Planning for the Future

Expanding our walls to serve our growing congregation and community

The Need for Expansion

After more than 40 years in our current facility, growth has outpaced our physical capacity. Our congregation of over 100 is quite young, with 84% under age 46. This includes 43 children and a large cohort of young families establishing their careers and homes.

Although our assembly room still handles our typical weekly needs, all other spaces in our building are being stressed by our growing congregation and by special events. To support our continued growth, we are in search of a facility that provides:

Support for Growing Families

Larger Sunday School classrooms and spaces for nursing mothers and infants.

Fellowship Space

Adequate areas for the shared meals and lingering fellowship that is central to our brotherhood.

Worship Viability

A sanctuary with sufficient capacity for member, guests, weddings, and baptisms.

Our Path Forward

Acquire the Gateway Christian Church

After evaluating 26 sites, our Building Committee recommends purchasing a ~23k sq. ft. facility at 14700 E Mississippi Ave, Aurora. This acquisition is a more prudent stewardship of resources than new construction for several reasons:

Immediate Readiness

Avoids land scarcity and rising construction costs with a move-in ready site requiring manageable renovations.

Scalability

Although larger than our original new-build plans, it accommodates immediate needs and future growth.

Location

High visibility and accessibility on a major corridor, located only a few minutes from our current locations.

Financial Stewardship & Funding Gap

We have signed an agreement to purchase the Gateway Church property. God has provided resources to begin the process, but it will require us to take on a significant amount of debt in order to complete the purchase and conduct necessary repairs, modifications, and deferred maintenance on the new building.

If you would like to support this effort physically or financially, the Denver (Aurora) congregation deeply appreciates your help.
